2013 COncert Season This year sees the Choir return to two concert venues of historical significance in its past, with four performances in the magnificently refurbished Brisbane City Hall and a performance in the Old Museum Building – Brisbane's principal concert venue prior to the opening of the City Hall in 1930. April 7th and 9th: Re-opening of Brisbane City Hall The Queensland Choir gave two performances as part of the re-opening weekend of the refurbished Brisbane City Hall. These were wonderfully received. It also sang at the re-launch of the Brisbane City Council's popular free lunchtime concert series on April 9 and it was a thrill to have the City Hall Auditorium full to overflowing.
April 24: Anzac Eve The Queensland Choir joined the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and the Brisbane Concert Choir in the annual tribute to the Anzacs at the Brisbane Convention Centre at Southbank. This free public concert was a deeply moving event and has rapidly become a favourite part of Brisbane's annual Anzac celebrations.

The Choir performed Carl Orff's favourite version of this that features two pianos and a large percussion section. Soloists were Leanne Kenneally (Soprano), Leon Warnock (Baritone) and Ronald Morris (Tenor). The capacity audience gave the Choir a standing ovation.
July 21 and 28: Sunday Serenades The Choir heads to the suburbs for these two Sunday matinee performances in the Sandgate Town Hall and Wynnum Municipal Hall on 21 and 28 July respectively. Music from a wide range of periods and styles will be performed, both accompanied and unaccompanied inc.uding opera choruses, oratorio choruses, Folk Songs and other fun music. We are fortunate to have Brett Weymark the Musical Director of the Sydney Philharmonia to lead the workshop this year. Full details will be available on the web site closer to the date.
